The Wonderful & Mysterious Ways In Which Jesus Works!

I often just sit and think about the ways in which God is working in my life. Recently, I have been experiencing some trials with my youngest son who will be 18 in two months. He is rebelling against me, against school, against life & God. Striving to gain his manhood and independence. He has been making some terrible choices and doing things that could ultimately be very destructive in his life.
As his mother this saddens me so much. I have been struggling with keeping my cool, not lecturing and nagging at him, and just not "losing it" on it. Boy oh boy, this is a major battle for me. A battle within my own spirit. I have prayed and prayed for him...but then God opened MY eyes and made me see that I was in HIS way. With my interference I was actually hindering what God was trying to do in Tyler's life. Through all of his wrong choices (some of which included a lip piercing, and those awful HUGE gauged earrings that make ugly giant holes in his ears...YUCK) God was trying to show my son that these kinds of wrong choices have consequences. My nagging only drove him farther away...& I was in God's way.
When I finally decided to LET GO & LET GOD things started to happen. My son came home, and had removed ALL of his piercings! He had tears streaming down his face this morning and grabbed me..and we just held each other for the longest time. Thank you Lord for the beautiful and mysterious way in which you work!
From now on I will pray, and try my hardest to just stay out of God's way. My son still has  a long way to go...but I know without a doubt God will bring him back to where he needs to be! Someday soon my son will become a man for God!

  1. Dear Julie,
God will guide you with love. Continue to pray and never stop believing in the goodness of your son. Always praise him for the good things that he does....we all have areas that need improvement however we are all God's creatures and are made in his reflection. God bless you and your son and keep you on the high road.
    Love and hugs,
    Pat

  2. Onward and upward! May God continue to work in your son's life. My husband and I have been fortunate to have raised two sons to manhood. They are now 30 and 27 and both joined the Marine Corp after they graduated while they were just 17. Fortunately they both just made a couple of bad decisions....nothing really bad, but it helped them learn. Today one is a firefighter and the other, a mechanic for a large corp. in Houston. They are married and living good lives. We were vigilant while they were growing up....we wanted to know where they were, who they were with and what they were doing. They had chores that were expected of them. We had supper together everynight. Today we still talk to both of them at least every couple of days and sometimes more often than that. Be the mother that you need to be, you are still the parent and keep praying! And as Julie said, keep praising him, but also let him know how he can do better.

  3. DEAR JULIE,
I AM VERY MUCH ENCOURAGED WITH YOUR PERSONAL EXPERIENCE WITH GOD AND YOUR SON. I ALSO HAVE A SON, AGE 33 WHO HAS RAN FROM THE LORD FOR MANY YEARS MAKING DECISIONS THAT HAVE CAUSED HIM 3 FAILED MARRIAGES AND A LIFE STYLE THAT HAS INCLUDED DRUGS AND ALCOHOL. I HAVE STOOD "IN THE GAP" IN PRAYER FOR HIM FOR MANY YEARS. I HAVE SEEN THE HAND OF GOD PROTECT MY SON AND SHOW HIM SUCH MERCY----AND WHEN THERE IS A PROBLEM IN HIS LIFE, HE ALWAYS CALLS AND SAYS, "MOM, I NEED YOU TO PRAY ABOUT SOMETHING"...I BELIEVE THAT ONE DAY HE WILL KNOW GOD AS HIS PERSONAL SAVIOUR AND THE JOY OF SEEING "WITH THE INNER MAN", THE MOVING HAND OF OUR PRECIOUS LORD AND SAVIOUR JESUS CHRIST! I WILL STAND WITH YOU IN PRAYER FOR YOUR SON.
THANK- YOU SO VERY MUCH FOR THE FREE IMAGES, BUT MOST OF ALL----FOR YOUR TESTIMONY!
